Strength Through Solidarity
There is one thing that has been very obvious to me as 35-year dues paying Member, is our strength lies not in the individual but through our collective efforts. In 2022 as your International UAW Vice-President, I was fortunate to be assigned the GM Department, Gaming and Gaming Organizing Departments which is staffed with many capable and dedicated people. These department’s efforts have been a group effort and I was blessed to have a wonderful team.
As we move forward, it is essential that we continue to function as a team. The strength of our Union has always been the Solidarity and these days it is more important than ever. I am proud to say that I have spent my time as part of the International Executive Board concentrating on the job at hand and staying out of the personality clashes.
Internal politics doesn’t serve the membership nor does airing our differences to the outside media. All of this has been chronicled in the reports from the court appointed Monitor. I would encourage our members to read these reports for a clearer picture of the internal workings of our union.
I pledge to you, I will continue to focus my energies every day on the fight to secure your future, ensure your safety on the job, defend your financial security and work toward developing a system that protects and provides for our members from day one to their retirement years. Our members deserve nothing less. May we always remember it is our Solidarity that sustains us, protects us and guides us.
As always in Solidarity,
Mike
